Eclipse MicroPen (Microneedling) & PRP FAQ

We use the Eclipse MicroPen® EVO, an FDA-cleared, medical-grade device. Unlike 'at-home' rollers or non-medical pens, our Eclipse system provides the precision and depth required for professional-grade collagen induction and acne scar remodeling.

  • The Eclipse MicroPen® EVO is a medical-grade device that creates thousands of precise "micro-channels" in the skin. This "controlled injury" triggers your body’s natural healing response, flooding the area with fresh collagen and elastin. Unlike older rollers, the EVO’s high-speed motor glides smoothly across the skin, making the treatment faster and significantly more comfortable.

  • Yes. The Eclipse MicroPen® EVO is a Class II medical device that is FDA-cleared for the treatment of facial acne scars and neck wrinkles. At South Bay Med Spa, we use single-use, sterile needle cartridges to ensure the highest level of safety and prevent any risk of cross-contamination.

  • While most patients focus on the face for acne scars and pore reduction, the Eclipse MicroPen is incredibly versatile. We frequently treat:

    • The Face: To smooth fine lines, acne scarring, and uneven texture.

    • The Neck: Specifically for horizontal 'tech-neck' lines and skin laxity.

    • The Décolletage: To repair sun damage and crepiness on the chest.

    • The Body: It is highly effective for reducing the appearance of stretch marks on the abdomen or thighs

  • Immediately after your session, you will look like you have a moderate sunburn.

    • Day 1-2: Most redness and mild swelling subside within 24 to 48 hours. Many of our Torrance patients are back to their normal routine by the next day.

    • Day 3-5: You may experience some light flaking or "sandpaper" texture as the skin cells turn over.

    • The Result: You’ll notice an immediate "glow" within a week, but the real collagen-building results peak around 3 to 6 months after your final session.

  • For general skin rejuvenation and "the glow," a single treatment can be effective. However, for specific concerns like deep acne scars or stretch marks, we typically recommend a series of 3 to 6 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

  • While the Eclipse MicroPen® EVO is powerful on its own, adding PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)—often called the "Vampire Facial"—takes your results to the next level.

    We draw a small sample of your own blood and use a specialized Eclipse Centrifuge to isolate the "Liquid Gold" growth factors. When these are applied to the micro-channels created by the pen, they penetrate deep into the dermis to:

    • Accelerate Healing: Most of our Torrance patients see redness resolve significantly faster with PRP.

    • Supercharge Collagen: The growth factors act as "fuel" for your skin cells, leading to more dramatic improvements in deep acne scars and fine lines.

    • The 'Vampire' Glow: PRP provides a level of radiance and "tightness" that microneedling alone cannot achieve.
